In this project, I created a model of a DNA by using gummy bears and red licorice rods. Each color of gummy bear represents each base of a DNA. Orange for cytosine, Green for Guanine, Yellow for thymine and Red for Adenine. Tooth pick represents hydrogen bond. I use painted black toothpick for triple bond. And normal toothpick for double bond.
This work helped me to get an larger image on the working of DNA. Also, I learned to communicate with my partner. Divide our work equally and assemble it at the end. This work helped me to be articulate communicator who can communicate with others and explaining and stating ideas.

This activity is about creating a protein structure. These colorful rods represent amino acids. Different arrangements of amino acids can create different protein shapes. And we are testing it out.
Firstly, I started by arranging these colorful rods randomly in a line. Each color of rods represent each type of amino acids. And the shape of protein are created because each type of amino acid have their characteristics. Such as red pink and blue must always be together. And I ended up with this form. This class activity helped me on my understanding of how protein shape were created. Also, helped me on my understanding of each amino acid types. This activity helped me to be innovative thinker who were creative and analyze each tasks. The purpose of this lab is to determine the biomolecules of unknown substance by using difference indicators. And discussed at the end of the class. And I was assigned to test lipids, by using detergent as indicator.
From this lab, I learn how each indicators work. And also, I observed that there were two group testing the same unknown substance, but the result were not the same. This showed me that one experiment is not enough for proving a statement. This lab helped me to be strategic learner who reflects on my work and improve myself. |
