For the final project for English, we are assigned to write a formal research paper on desired topics. I always interested in spaces and universe, so I choose to do a topic called " The Fermi paradox". The Fermi paradox is an attempt to explain the existence of extraterrestrial civilization due to the absence of evidences. It was firstly purposed by Enrico Fermi, an Nobel-price atomic scientist. Although, many others scientists had suggests their theories to support the paradox, for instance, the Drake's Equation, the Kadarshev's Scale, or the Great filter theory. The milky ways galaxy consists of roughly 400 billion stars, and from estimations, their should be over a million planet fulfilled with life. Furthermore, by using the Drake's equation ( N = Rs* fp* ne* fl* fi* fe* L ) their should be at least 10 active intelligence civilizations ( like humans ) in our Milky Way alone. Also, there are far more older planets, and there should be older civilizations with higher technologies than us. According to the Kadarshev's Scale, we could categorize those intelligence civilizations in to 3 types; planetary civilizations, stellar civilizations and galactic civilizations. Although, there's no signs of any of theses civilizations at all. Many theories such as the Great Filter are used to explain the paradox. The theory suggests that there must be some "evolutionary transition or step” that was preventing lifeforms to become type III civilizations. We, humans, might already surpassed the filter or the filter maybe in ahead of us. This assignment teaches me many things. The topic I had chosen is very hard, and I had struggles paraphrasing and summarizing these datas. Also, I submitted the assignment very late, due to my poor time-management skills. Although, this assignment had improved me on my writing skills, and teaches me a lot on citating.
