Connotation refers to personal and cultural meaning of a word. Which can be classified as positive or negative meaning. In this task, I was assigned to write my reflection about how can knowing a word’s connotative meaning help you learn a new language better?" From this task, I've learned knowing a word's connotative meaning can help us learn new language in many ways. In this poster, I must choose two words for positive and negative meaning on my self. I choose the word "BEE" for positive meaning. And I choose the word "BOX" for negative meaning.
The word "BEE" is a positive word for me, because bees always work hard for their hives. Which inspire me to work hard like those little bees. The word "BOX" is a negative word for me, because box always makes me think about a room with no way to escape. And also box means limited for me, limited the way I think and imagine. From this assignment, I've learned that the same word can have difference personal meanings for each person. |
